Dancing With The Stars: Stars Lining Up? Initial critic reactions to the list of celebrities joining season 5 of lacked the excitement that the celebrity dance competition would yield among its audiences. BuddyTV's John Kubicek found it even preposterous that model Albert Reed was on the list, first because he wasn't much of a popular figure and second because the show was for "D-list celebrities to try to revive their drowning careers." Reed wasn't on the D-list, nor was he a rising figure.
Basically this season's cast isn't much of a must-watch collection of celebrities, and ABC has been on the search to find good celebrities to put on their show. Moreover, there are a lot of ABC and Disney personalities who want to be on the competition.
The celebrities themselves have come out in the open and have expressed their aspirations of joining the highly popular Dancing with the Stars. The New York Post reports this.
"It's not if I do Dancing With The Stars…it's when," said Paige Hemmis, a carpenter from Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. "The only reason I couldn't do it this time was that we're in the middle of our shooting schedule. But maybe by next spring, I'll be in the clear."
Another celebrity eager to join the reality dance competition is Chris Harrison, the host of The Bachelor. However, the airing of his show and the shooting schedule are both hindering him from doing so.
"I'd do it in a heartbeat…I'm a big
fan and it seems like so much fun," Harrison said. "[But] they said it would be awkward if I was on a show that led into my own show."
Corbin Bleu of the popular Disney franchise, High School Musical, and who happens to be Sabrina Bryan's friend, would also love to participate in the show. However, he thinks that his dance training might put him out of the running. Sabrina Bryan has had a lot of dance training as well, but the tricky part is the ballroom dancing.
"I'd love to do [Dancing with the Stars]," Bleu said. "I'd go out there and mambo…[but] I don't know if they'd actually allow me to because I've trained in ballroom for two years and I know they don't want that. The whole point is to show people learning to ballroom dance."
One thing common about these celebrities is that they are all under the same company that produce Dancing with the Stars, so their sincerity of joining the competition may be in question. However, the show's popularity highly depends on who's on it to compete, therefore the more celebrities eager to be on it, the more the viewers would tune in.
