Dancing Video Game Puts Fun Back Into Exercise By chester Working out and having fun - isn’t that what it’s all about? Well rarely do people report having a great time sweating it out at the gym, but there is a new concept in weight loss that may have you and your kids around the house as you shed pounds.
It comes in the form of a video game. It burns calories. It even improves cardiovascular health. And it may help fight obesity in both children and adults. The game is called Dance Dance Revolution and the West Virginia Public Employees Insurance Agency is using it in their obesity study.
The home-version includes a console, dance pad and software. The dance pad is a 3-foot square metal pad with arrows pointing
up, down, right and left. Players choose their tune and arrows scroll up the television to the rhythm of the music. The goal for the player is to step on the corresponding arrow on the platform.
What kids wouldn’t want to put video games ahead of fitness? Now here’s a fun way to combine the two. And the adults can do it too. Crank the tunes and you’ll be dancin’ off calories in no time!
